Leader vs Managers

Warren Bennis in his book 'On Becoming a Leader' mentioned that the differences between managers and leaders are :-

(a) The strong leaders need to have a compelling vision,

(b) He needs to have a skillfully communicate that vision, and

(c) He needs to inspire people to follow that vision.

A dictator is not a good leader because his capability in sharing his vision is doubtful. He is too harsh and hard in persuading the followers to absorb and understand his vision. Lastly, the one who is following him is the one without integrity and having no stand.

A good leader is the one who is willing to cooperate in two ways communication in which he is willing to listen and to be listened. He may use firm instruction to enforce  his way in order to achieve the vision and at the same time he needs to willingly to absorp with any constructive  and destructive comments and responses.

Sometimes, a leader needs to respond and sometimes he needs to become as a good listener. No need to comment but just to keep silent and showing his courtesy.
